Community Guidelines

The idea

Blue Rush gives you three people a day in your rush, two in each if you hold both, and nothing to scroll. Every one of them is a real student at your campus, in your age group, who answered the same survey you did. Three people deserve more care than three hundred. These guidelines say what that care looks like. They are part of the Terms of Service.

Be the person on your file

• Your photos are of you. Your name is yours. Your answers are honest; the percentages can only be as true as what you told us.
• One account, and only for yourself. Inventing a person, or borrowing one, ends your account.
• Your birth date is permanent and it decides which group you are in. Users under 18 only ever meet other users under 18; adults only ever meet adults. Entering a false birth date to cross that line is the fastest way out of Blue Rush.
• Red Rush asks for a government ID and a live selfie. Submit your own. The files are deleted the moment a decision is made, whatever the decision.

In conversation

• Anyone can send the first message. Open like a person: something from their file beats “hey”, and anything crude is a report waiting to happen.
• No harassment, no threats, no hate, no sexual messages to someone who has not welcomed them. Sexual content involving a minor, or any approach to a minor, ends the account at once.
• Silence is an answer. If someone does not reply, or leaves the thread, let it rest. There are twenty messages a minute available to you; you will not need them.
• Blue Rush is not a marketplace. No selling, advertising, recruiting, or collecting people's details.
• What someone tells you in a conversation was told to you, not to your group chat. Sharing it to mock them is a reason for removal.

Your tools

• Pass sets today's match aside quietly. Nothing is sent and nobody is told.
• Leave conversation hides a thread for you. The other person is not notified. Messaging them again from their match reopens it.
• Block is permanent and works both ways. You disappear from each other everywhere, matches and chats alike, and it cannot be undone. It needs no reason and no explanation.
• Report puts a human on it. Choose a reason, add what helps, and send. Every report is read. A report survives even if the reported account is deleted.

Block and Report sit on every match and at the top of every chat.

What happens when a guideline is broken

A report is read by a person. Depending on what they find, the account may be suspended (it cannot sign in and receives no matches) or deleted, and a Red Tick may be revoked. Suspension can happen without warning. Every action is written to a log that nobody can edit. A suspended person can ask for a review at hello@thebluerush.com.

Meeting in person

• First meetings belong in public places, on or near campus, in daylight if you can.
• Tell a friend where you will be and who you are meeting.
• A percentage compares answers. It does not know a person's character. Your judgment stays in charge, and you can leave at any moment for any reason.
• Blue Rush verifies a campus email for everyone and, for Red Rush, an ID and a selfie. It does not run background checks.
